alignment of the us dangerous goods regulations

The US PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) is submitting a proposal to align dangerous goods regulations with international regulations and standards.

 

Among other things, changes to the proper shipping name, dangerous goods classes, packing groups, special provisions, packing approvals, quantity limits for air transport and stowage regulations in maritime transport are planned.

 

The proposed changes to the regulations are intended, among other things, to facilitate the safe transport of critical vaccines and other medical materials in connection with the Corona pandemic and to take account of the increasing proportion of lithium batteries in transport.
