Shipping companies avoid the Suez route

After several cargo ships were shot at – and unfortunately also hit in some cases – while travelling through the Red Sea in recent days, this route and therefore also the Suez Canal are no longer considered safe. Almost all major shipping companies have already announced that they will no longer be travelling through the Suez Canal for the time being.

Until the passage through the Red Sea is safe again, the ships will be routed around Africa, which will extend the sea route by a good 14 days. The change has a significant impact on the entire supply chain, as the entire voyage planning is out of balance.
