The United Nations confirmed Turkey’s request to change its name. From now on, the country will be called TÜRKIYE. Within the framework of the free trade agreement, Turkey insists exclusively on the name TÜRKIYE for proofs of origin, also in German, French or Italian.
A transitional phase has not yet been defined. Nevertheless, it is recommended to use the new country designation with immediate effect.
The country abbreviations TR or TUR will remain in use until further notice.
